Is there even any reason to watch movies now

Recommended Posts

I have abandoned even the lingering, fetid husks of 20th century bite-sized media. It's all about the long form, year-round Dungeons and Dragons streams broadcast live on twitch. :arms:

Who wouldn't come out of pseudo-retirement to wear a bunch of fancy clothes and drive around a nice car

new yorker with the 5-month cold takes today on how wrong it is to center a film about a man who is used to being at the center of everything on that man

yeah, never seen any Michael Mann films before this, apparently HEAT is canonically his best, but the rest sound pretty interesting too. always up to watch a deeply-flawed masterpiece, which a lot of his films appear to be

I watched Heat like 10 years ago maybe and I remember two things:

- the sound was really great during the shoot out

- Al Pacino saying "GRRREAT ASS"

oh I can't remember if part of the motivation for this was learning that Béla Tarr finished making films

although I've only watched Werckmeister harmóniák

I swear I'll find 7 hours to watch Sátántangó one of these days

this was the new movies thread and morphed into the old movies thread and the old movies thread morphed into the new movies thread

I think it says something about how our despair for the future has fostered a nostalgia for the past and our reflection upon the past has driven us towards a nihilistic and utterly decadent embrace of the present

MAYBE IF THE THREAD TOPICS WERE MORE CLEARLY INDICATED THINGS WOULD BE MORE ORDERLY.

We need Fajita back to whip us into shape.
